It was revealed at the Tokyo Motor Show during Yamaha’s press conference. The autonomous motorcycle is able to recognise its rider, comprehend the rider’s movements, commands and behaviour. This is all made possible with Artificial Intelligence (AI). Apart from facial recognition software and sensors around the bike to deduce the rider’s biometrics, it also boasts haptic feedback in which the seat adjusts itself to “hug”the rider from behind. According to Yamaha, the purpose of this is to allow the rider to foster a feeling of unity with the bike itself. The bike is able to balance by itself due to AMCES, Yamaha’s self balancing and control system. This reminds us of the Honda Riding Assist-e.

The bike is electrically powered by lithium-ion battery packs, and it’s enhanced with carbon fibre for a lighter bike. It weighs approximately 212kg.

This year, Yamaha’s theme is “Yamaha Future Garage: Resonate the future”. Indeed, with such advanced technology and futuristic design, we feel that this is the bike of the future.
