Women Know How To Party Hard – The Women’s Motorcycle Show Was A Huge Hit

Posted On : 17-01-2018

Have you ever thrown so great a party that the Police had to shut it down? Me neither. But Alicia Elfving did and lived to tell the story.

On January 13, a massive crowd appeared at the Lucky Wheels Garage in Los Angeles, California, for the third annual Women’s Motorcycle Show. Filled to the brim with motorcycles and people, Police choppers surrounded the area thinking they were street racing.

It truly was a party in the U.S.A.

Elfving wrote on her Facebook page, “They actually thought the event was really cool and want to help us out next year with keeping it on the up-and-up. I was so proud and happy, hearing two LAPD officers tell you “this is the coolest event we’ve ever had to shut down” is definitely the feather in my cap.”

She is commonly known as the Moto Lady, as is her website, which she defined as “A woman who loves motorcycles and has a passion for riding.”

Starting January of 2011, Elfving took steps to encourage current and aspiring women riders and provide them with a positive sense of community by creating her website. It was started purely due to her collection of photographs of women riding motorcycles, custom bikes, and such.

The party in question, meanwhile, was started seven years ago on January 12, for every year the Moto Lady brand grew. Although the event is still, without a doubt, an anniversary party, it has become “focused on bad-ass babes and their bikes”, according to Elfving.

The Women’s Motorcycle Show was sponsored by Bell Powersports and featured many fun activities such as food, music, art, raffles, and most importantly, booze. With Jessi Combs and Theresa Contreras in special ‘Real Deal’ booths, no wonder the motorcycle show had a great turn-out.The aforementioned raffles included Bell Helmets certificates, Sena Bluetooth headsets, a custom-painted Lowbrow Customs tank, Torco oil, Tobacco Motorwear riding jeans, Butler Maps 50 state set, Wolfman Luggage gear, Rev’It! gear, Rizoma parts, a Bitlwell gift certificate, Alpinestars gear, Pirelli tires, Grifter Company gloves, and more.

Police choppers overhead Elfving’s massive party filled with motorists provided extra lighting as the crowd looked on generally nonplussed. “It was a pretty great way to end the night,” Elving wrote on Facebook.

However, before the winners of the raffle could even be announced, they were, as told, shut down by the police. Elfving then had to draw the tickets the following day during a live stream on Instagram.

The GT-MotoLady MV Agusta Brutale 800 charity bike as well as Jessi Combs and Theresa Contreras’ BMW rNineT, and Krystal Hess / Motorcycle Missions’ Indian Scout were some of the bikes displayed during the event.
