Think you’re a great custom builder? Take a look at this
Indian Motorcycles have announced their very own custom motorcycle competition called ‘The Wrench: Scout Bobber Build Off’.

Like the title of the competition suggests, contestants will have to turn a stock Indian Scout Bobber into an amazing custom motorcycle art unlike the judges has ever seen. Speaking of which, the panel of judges are Roland Sans, Jason Paul Michaels, Satya Kraus, and Hot Bike Editor-in-Chief Jordan Mastagni with the task of choosing the top three craftsmen for the winning prize.
The competition is not open to professional builders and contestants who make their living by customizing bikes. Instead, Indian Motorcycle is looking for everyday wrenchers, home builders and amateur customizers who tinker in the garage for the passion, not the pay. Motorcycle industry professionals, such as a mechanic or salesperson, are welcomed to submit.
Submissions start on March 15 through 30 which must include the following:
- A sketch of how you would customize the Scout Bobber
- A written description of the proposed build
- Photos and written description of a past build you had a primary role in designing and customizing
- A written description that answers why you should be selected as a finalist
*Optional to submit references and a video detailing plans of your build and building qualifications.

A new 2018 stock Indian Scout Bobber will be provided to three chosen participants along with a budget of $10,000 and the best stripped-down version of the 100hp cruiser wins a $10,000 grand prize and a feature spread in Hot Bike magazine.
“We wanted to create a program that would celebrate the unsung heroes who spend countless hours wrenching on their bikes. The men and women who don’t do it for recognition or notoriety, but solely for self-expression and the pure art of customizing a motorcycle,” said Reid Wilson, Senior Director – Marketing and Product Planning for Indian Motorcycle. “Last year we saw what professionals could do with the Scout Bobber platform when Kraus Motor, Keino Cycles and RSD unveiled incredible designs at the Brooklyn Invitational. This year, we’re turning the spotlight away from the pros, and shining it on everyday wrenchers.”
