The New Standard of Evoke: Reverse Gears and Automated Call Response Systems
We are no longer an audience on the bleachers watching out for a prospective future. We are, in this moment, players of an inexorable present moment. Ever since the advent of the Internet, we have witnessed the rise of what is possible due to the advancement of technology, which has touched every type of field and industry. And whatever the traditional motorcycle manufacturers might have us believe, the rise of electric motorcycles is inevitable.

Beijing-based Evoke Motorcycles is one of those that are at the forefront of electric motorcycle manufacturing with their plan to include a reversing system and an automatic ‘eCall’ safety system to their bikes.
With first time and inexperienced riders in mind, the reverse gear is meant to aid motorcycle parking in compact spaces and will have a top speed of 5 kmh. Riders will be able to activate the reverse gear through the LCD touch control panel. Not only will this new feature make urban parking easier, there will also be less chances of a rider dropping the bike who are slight of build.
“While experienced riders wouldn’t bat an eye at Evoke motorcycles total weight of 169 kg, many new or inexperienced riders voice concerns about dropping and damaging their bike or injuring themselves,” said Evoke BD Director Ren Chin Zonbo. “Adding a reverse gear will make manoeuvring in and out of parking spaces much easier for new riders and is less taxing on their legs.”
Meanwhile, an automatic call response (ARC) system promises to detect when a bike has fallen over or crashed. In the event that it does detect a crash, the ARC will immediately message a pre-programmed phone number with the GPS coordinates of the bike so that the riders’ emergency conotacts can assess the situation and provide assistance if necessary.
