The Monkey Run Adventure: Of Impractical Two-Wheelers and Off-Road Chaos
To sum it up: “What better way to spend a week of your life than astride a badly made 48cc engine slapped on a motorbike that's exactly the right size for a 5 year old? The Monkey Run is man and machine in an ongoing argument.”

Founded in 2016, The Monkey Run is an initiative under ‘The Adventurists’. The birth of this crazy yet enriching journey stemmed from a trip a certain Mr Tom and Mr Buddy took in Morocco - complete with “a couple of silly bikes and an unrealistic plan.”
Here’s the story behind the birth of The Monkey Run:
The motorbikes in question are completely impractical for any 7 day journey in the wild. Featuring a “laughable power output”, the almighty Monkey has a 48cc engine and 2.6 BHP, weighing in at a total of 75 kg.

According to Mr Buddy, “These bikes are completely impractical. That’s why you don’t see thousands of them driving up and down the country. It’s because they’re useless.”
“You’re sort of spreading a wave of joy and happiness in your wake as everyone behind you bursts out laughing,” Mr Tom adds.
Watch the pioneers of The Monkey Run discuss the pleasures of riding this diminutive adventuring beast below:
The Monkey Run adventures are currently only available in Morocco, Romania and Peru. Australia has also been announced as a possible location but no further details have been given. As the adventurists so aptly put, choose your playground; it’s time to begin adventuring.

‘The Adventurists’ fights to make the world less boring by creating adventures, because they think “there’s no greater moment than those seconds when you leap into an abyss of uncertainty and disaster.”
Other than the motorcycle journey Monkey Run, they also have airborne race Icarus Trophy and aquatic adventure Kraken Cup, among many others.
Every adventure organised raises money for their official charity partner ‘Cool Earth’.
