On the 24th of March, the police in Paris, Tennessee received a report of a stolen cell phone from a local residence.

Upon arriving at the home on Highway 79 just Southwest of Paris (a city in Tennessee, not the one in France), Deputy Jim Sanders noticed something odd.

While gathering details on the $600 stolen phone, he noticed that there was a black motorcycle parked in the woman’s driveway. A quick check on the vehicle then showed that it was a Honda Shadow motorcycle valued at $1,500.

The home owner giving the police report informed the deputy that the motorbike was originally red, but was then painted black. She felt that something was amiss after the motorcycle was given the fresh coat of paint, and reportedly told Sanders who the motorcycle belonged to.

Sanders then scanned the vehicle’s identification number, and sure enough it was really a stolen motorcycle. According to the Paris Post, the woman who lodged the report for the missing cell phone had nothing to do with the motorcycle.

Well, nothing other than the unfortunate fact that it just so happened to be parked at the driveway. Sanders also noted that the motorbike had quite a few scratches on the gas tank and body panels. These should be able to aid the rightful owner in identification of the bike.

No additional information has been provided as to who stole the Honda, who the current ‘owner’ of the motorbike is and who was the one who made the original purchase.

What we do know, though, is that the story of how a stolen cell phone led to a discovery of a stolen motorcycle is pretty neat. It’s like losing a $1 coin and then finding a $10 note in your pocket.

Hopefully, with such advanced technology even within the motorcycle technology, the police will be able to return the motorcycle to its owner soon.
