Silverstone: It was all a dream

Posted On : 03-09-2014

Back on the last race we saw something that has only happened one time during this entire season, Marc Marquez lost a race, and he didn't only loose it, he also was left out of the podium. Many thought that this might be the beginning of another championship where, Marc Marquez will win it, but his superiority would be as overwhelming as in this last races. Fortunately, or unfortunately, this doesn't seem to be the case as, once again, Marquez won a race. But this time it would not be without controversy. Marc Marquez won the duel with Jorge Lorenzo for first position on Silverstone and Valentino Rossi finished on the podium in his 246th Grand Prix.

Jorge Lorenzo was quick enough to get away from Marc Marquez easily, but Marc Marquez hunt him until the end, where he found a gap on the defense of Jorge Lorenzo where Marc Marquez had a superior brake on one of the curves, passing Lorenzo. Even an error from Marc Marquez, where he went wide on a curve could not change the faith, Jorge Lorenzo took advantage of the situation and passed Marc Marquez, but Marc Marquez revenged very soon and he make a very risky move to pass Jorge Lorenzo, this has not been taken well by the Yamaha rider and will surely bring controversy as Marc Marquez made, once again, a very risky move that could have ended very bad for both pilots.

Probably much more interesting was the race for the third place of the podium in which the main role was played by Valentino Rossi, Dani Pedrosa and Andrea Dovizioso. The trio did not change its composition the whole race, constantly swooping at each other. Winner of the Grand Prix of the Czech Republic, Dani Pedrosa slowly but persistently, were pressing the Ducati of Andrea Dovizioso, trying not to look for trouble (not as Marquez!), But this behavior helped Pedrosa at the end to pass Dovizioso on the 4th place. Rossi kept the defense after entering the third position, a perfectly executed plan from the veteran Italian rider.

With the race at Silverstone, 7-time MotoGP champion also went down in history as a pilot with the highest number of starts in the top class . A total number of 246. Whereas Marc Marquez, in turn, set a new record by winning 11 races in the season 2014. In this record Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi have something in common: they both have reached this height - 11 wins in a single season, but Rossi did it in 2005 ... A record Marc Marquez can multiply until the end of the season, making and 12, and 13 and 14 races won.

After 12 races, 11 of which Marc wrote his name on the history of MotoGP its advantage in the race for the title is 89 points. If Marquez wins the Grand Prix of San Marino in two weeks, it will be 2-times champion of MotoGP at the end of the month, in Aragon. This is the statistic and the inexorable mathematics, Dani Pedrosa finished outside the podium, and Lorenzo incredibly far in the general classification due to his very bad races this season, and this has opened the way for Marc Marquez
