Seven Different Types of Motorcycles for Seven Days of the Week

Posted On : 12-12-2017

Seven types of electric motorcycles are soon to be out and about the streets of Riau Islands and the rest of Indonesia thanks to PT Magnum Molis Indonesia, a motorcycle dealership in Batam. Having passed the standards of their Transportation Ministry, they launched their CKD vehicles to the market yesterday, December 7. Other than the 40% locally-produced components, the 60% all came from China.

They invested 50 billion rupiah for the project, which is about SG$4.7 million, and are already reaping its benefits as the 200 vehicles they put into production for their 2017 goal was sold out within two months of its market trial.Cahya, President and Director of Magnum Molis Indonesia, said that they “believe the electric motorcycle has a great potential market” especially because driving electric motorcycles in Batam cost less than driving those that were gas-powered.

As gasoline was expensive on Riau, it made no sense to produce gas-powered bikes. That would require 400,000 rupiah, SGD$37.89, every re-fuel while a monthly battery re-charge would only cost about 40,000 rupiah, SGD$3.79.

It only takes roughly six hours to fully charge the battery of Magnum Molis’ electric motorcycles after which, it has the ability to run about 80km at a speed of 60km/h.

Additionally, the company are already receiving proposals from prospective dealers that will significantly boost the production of the vehicles. Currently, they own an assembling factory that has a capacity of a thousand units per month.
