Recall for Triumph Street Triple Motorbikes with Malfunctioning Light Switches

Posted On : 23-05-2018

Owners of the 2018 Triumph Street Triple motorcycles please take note.

A recall has been issued to the R and RS Street Triple Models, as there appears to be a problem with the left-hand side combination switch which may malfunction when saturated by water. This in turn can cause the turn signal switch and the headlight switch to malfunction, creating a safety hazard especially when on the roads.

According to the British company, the original switchgear only had a single layer of protective lacquering when it was manufactured, and this may have resulted in the left-hand combination switch being improperly sealed during construction.

Consequently, water will be able to enter the device and short-circuit the electrical components.

It is estimated that 1242 units are affected, and the owners of these bikes will be notified by Triumph and have their left-hand combination switch replaced free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin on 31st May 2018.
