Production of Honda Super Cub just crossed the 100 Million mark

Ever since production commenced for the Honda Super Cub way back in 1958, it has not ceased for the past 60 years – and history was made as the underbone motorcycle surpassed a total of 100 million productions. In fact, only 50 million motorcycles was produced in the year 2005. Impressively, the number has doubled in 12 years’ time! The Honda Super Cub is the most produced motor vehicle in the world. A ceremony to celebrate this 100 million-unit milestone was held at Kumamoto, Honda’s sole plant in Japan which produces motorcycles.

Honda is riding into 2018 by announcing two upgraded iterations of the Super Cub 50 and Super Cub 110, originally produced in years 2007 and 2009 respectively. Each has a base and “Pro” version. The “Pro” version has features such as a front-mounted basket, rear carrier, etc. These are to facilitate the delivery of newspapers in Japan. The bikes will be manufactured at Kumamoto.

The Super Cub 50 and 110 is powered by 49cc and 109cc single-cylinder engines respectively. The motorcycles are coupled with Programmed Fuel Injection (PGM-FI) technology to inject an appropriate amount of fuel based on engine data. Other notable features include LED headlights, as well as front and rear drum brakes.

The Super Cub 50 costs SGD$2700+, while the Pro version is priced at SGD$3000+. The Super Cub 110 sells for SGD$3300+, while the Pro version will set you back by SGD$3500+. All prices indicated are as per the market price in Japan. Lastly, ardent fans may want to catch the 45th Tokyo Motor Show next week.

During this biennial event, Honda is slated to showcase a brand new Cross Cub, as well as a concept for the Super Cub 125.
