Last Thursday, 30 September, it was announced that American rider Patrick ‘PJ’ Jacobsen, 24, will be racing in the World Superbike Championship in 2018 with the TripleM Honda WSBK Team atop Honda’s ‘Fireblade’ CBR1000RR SP2.

He thanks the team and the Honda for making his debut at WorldSBK possible, saying that it is “a great opportunity” for him to finally race in that class. As it is his and the team’s first time in the championship, he is sure that there will be “a lot to learn”. The challenge, he said, “stimulates him” and that “he can’t wait to get started”.
The Fireblade has a 999cc, liquid-cooled 4-stroke, 16-valve, DOHC Inclince-4 engine with a maximum power output of 121kW every 13,000 rpm and a maximum 114Nm of torque every 11,000 rpm. Framed in diamond and an aluminium composite twin spar, it has a 6-speed transmission and LED headlights complete with a full colour TFT LCD display.
Its Marchesini wheels add to the agility and steering lightness of the bike on the road and track. With less weight, more power and advanced electronics, it delivers a smooth and outstanding performance as you ride it.
