Norton Reveals Official Sketches of New 650cc Atlas Scrambler

Posted On : 13-07-2018

British motorcycle manufacturer has recently revealed two sketches showing off the new scrambler they plan to debut in November later this year.

Named the 2019 Norton Atlas, the motorbike will be powered by a new 650cc Twin power plant - consisting of two cylinders from the 1200cc V4 unit.

The original Norton Atlas was actually introduced in 1962, where it was powered by an air-cooled 745cc Twin at that time. In fact, it was said to be the largest engine ever produced by the legendary British company, Norton Motorcycle.

Ironically, though, the newest Atlas will be using Norton’s smallest current engine.

Although not much detail has been released on the scrambler yet, we can see from the sketches what appears to be a steel tube frame, wire-spoke wheels, an upside-down fork and twin front disc brakes. Brakes have been sourced by Brembo, with ABS as standard. Circular headlights finish the look, adding on to the overall sleek design of the bike.

The two-wheeler is expected to offer three modes as well - 70bhp, 90bhp and a supercharged version of around 175bhp. Rumour is that there will be a ‘high’ version meant for the off-road, with spoke wheels and dual-purpose tires, while the ‘low’ version is likely to be more road biased.

Set to debut at the NEC motorcycle show in Birmingham, UK this November, the Norton Atlas scrambler is expected to be highly successful among bikers.
