On December 7, 2017, Husqvarna Motorcycles announced that they would officially be participating in the 2018 World Enduro Super Series with Extreme XL Lagares in Portugal beginning May 11 to 13.

The World Enduro Super Series (WESS), run by WESS Promotion GbmH, is a relatively new championship with eight rounds and multi-discipline races for both professional and amateur racers. The premium offroad series include various endure events such as Hard Enduro, Classic Enduro, Cross-Country and Beach Racing style events where the racers would be given free rein on their preferred make and size of motorcycle.

After Portugal, the race will take in ErzbergRodeo, Austria, Le Trefle Lozerein AMV, France, Raomaniacs, Romania, Megawatt, Poland, Gotland Grand National, Sweden, and another event that is still unannounced, finishing in The Netherlands with the Knock Out Beach Race on November 10, 2018.

“We feel that the WESS offers an exciting blend of endure competitions,” said Diego Clement, Head of Motorsport at Husqvarna Motorcycles, “while still holding firm many of the true values of endure sport.”  He added that it was important for Husqvarna to be present at such a championships as they could “directly engage and interact” with their valued customers and fan base. “We wish the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team the very best of luck and success.”

Meanwhile, the Team Manager Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing, Andi Hoelzl, said, “Competing in the World Enduro Super Series offers an exciting new challenge for the Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing team in 2018.” In his team would be Graham Jarvis, Billy Bolt, Alfred Gomez, and Colton Haaker.

Also announced to participate is the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team with Josep Garcia, Taddy Blazusiak, Cody Webb, Nathan Watson, and Jonny Walker – a move confirmed by KTM Motorsports Director, Pit Beirer.

WESS promises to “harness the true potential of endure sport” while simultaneously maintaining its media presence and garnering fan interest to give the motorcycle industry and event sponsors “a larger communication platform”.
