MV Agusta’s Sport Bikes Get Automatic Clutch System
Auto-clutch technology on sport bikes is still considered to be rather rare, but Italian manufacturer MV Agusta has revealed the all new Smart Clutch System (SCS) that may just shake things up for sport bike riders.

MV Agusta will be debuting the SCS as an option on the 2018 Turismo Veloce 800 Lusso sport-tourer, where the system is an automatic clutch designed specifically for sport bikes and with the ability to allow the rider to use a conventional clutch to change gears or ride in automatic mode.
The SCS claims to add zero weight to the bike, and acceleration times are reportedly similar to their F4 superbike at about 3 seconds to 100 km/h.

MV Agusta is said to have made headway for the SCS transmission about two years ago, with American brand Rekluse for the sport-bike clutch.
Together, the duo developed a specific set of clutch plates, with a greater friction surface area and special springs.

The SCS will feature a transparent clutch cover to watch the technology at work, and benefits of the system include greater “riding fluidity”. A parking brake is also added as the SCS clutch supposedly does not remain engaged when the engine is switched off, which means the bike may roll away on its side stand.
Currently, the SCS option adds about 700 euros (about $1099 SGD) to the Turismo Veloce Lusso motorbike.
