MV Agusta to Release New 1200cc Naked Bike Instead of Superbike

Posted On : 21-12-2017

MV Holding, owned by Giovanni Castiglioni and the Russian Sardarov family, has completed the acquisition of Mercedes AMG’s 25% stake in the company and is officially the 100% owner of MV Agusta S.p.A. Their new direction – “to sell less but sell better”.

The turnaround started at the beginning of last year, 2016, was also the shift MV Agusta needed after completing their successful range of 3-cylinders models that consisted of supersport, naked, and sport touring bikes.

For this year and the next, they will be shifting all their attention to developing a new four-cylinder for their larger bikes with a new model to be launched sometime next year.

During this year’s EICMA show, Castiglioni already teased that we could expect a 1,200cc four-cylinder Brutale “in the near future” so we went a little further and are now dreaming of a large-capactity, four-cylinder take on their Dragster RR theme as well as a bigger Turismo Veloce and Rivale; there’s no point in wishing for a new Superbike as Castiglioni already said he opts to spend money on a 1200cc Naked.

This is in line with the company’s new plan after the recent restructuring, focusing instead on the production of “low-volume, high-end models in reduced numbers, but to a very high level of quality and performance for the super premium motorcycle market”.

The newly strategized Italian marque gives us goosebumps in anticipation of newer and better models in the future.
