Andrea Iannone - an Italian racer for Suzuki, was initially the fastest in the FP4 practice session for the Mugello race, but with all these incredible racers around, as well as varied conditions on the track, anything can happen.

During the race itself, Lorenzo had an early lead ahead of popular contender Valentino Rossi. After all, the latter was racing in his home country, but I digress. That aside, Lorenzo managed to lead for the rest of the race, with Rossi and Marc Marquez following close behind him.

But on the fifth lap, Marquez got into a little accident at the Scarperia right-hander, and this caused him to slide right into the gravel trap before remounting. With Marquez out of the way, that left Lorenzo’s teammate Andrea Dovizioso, and rival Rossi in the second and third places respectively.

With an advantage of a mere 0.7 seconds, Lorenzo managed to hold out the rest of the laps, eventually finishing in first place - his first win since Valencia 2016 and the 45th of his premier class career by a margin of 6.3 seconds.

Dovizioso, on the other hand, managed to come in first runner up, putting the Ducati team at the top two spots.

If you’re wondering where Iannone stood in the race, he finished in the fourth place after making an error at the last lap while battling with Rossi, who finished with third place.

As for Marquez? He came in 16th place, having crashed rather unfortunately in the midst of the competition.
