Motorcyclist Survives the “Speed Wobbles”

Posted On : 19-04-2018

This rider looked death in the eyes and somehow, miraculously, survived. Also called the “Tank Slapper Wobble of Death Weave” by the uploader, the video shows the man aboard a Kawasaki Ninja ZX6R speeding through traffic when he hit a pothole and started to wobble on his vehicle.

Also known as the “death wobbles”, they are sudden violent oscillations of the bike’s front wheel and handlebars and often lead to a crash due to the difficulty of recovering from it. Lady Luck must have been smiling upon him that day, because the rider somehow managed to regain control even at a speed of 209 km/h.

While it was an incredibly lucky save, the rider had put other road users in danger by going at such a high speed on a public road in the middle of the day. Furthermore, his only form of protection was helmet, as he was clad in a t-shirt, sweatpants and sneakers. There was no other protective gear which could have resulted in catastrophic injuries had he not managed to pull off that dramatic save.

Although an impressive save, we do not advise our fellow road users to put themselves and others in danger. So always remember to stay within the speed limit and please put on your protective gear before hopping on your bikes!
