The owner of the bike had realised that his vehicle was missing and made a police report at 12.13PM on the same day. He stated that his motorcycle had been stolen from the carpark of Block 148, Yishun Street 11.

Police later recovered the motorcycle around Yishun Ring Road, and through the aid of detailed ground inquiries and police cameras were able to identify the suspect.

The alleged thief was then arrested in the vicinity of Yishun Street 11 later that day, at around 6PM. If he was found guilty, he could face a jail term of up to seven years and be fined.

Anti-Theft Measures:

The police also advised all motorcycle owners to:

  • Install an anti-theft alarm on your motorcycle
  • Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, and secure both ends
  • Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks, or to install a suspension guard
  • Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle when left unattended

While reports of a motorcycle theft are never good news, it is at least relieving to see that our men in blue take their jobs seriously
