Motorcycle Helmet from Japan Offers Rider 360-Degree Vision
With all these innovative technologies being incorporated into helmets lately, it is difficult to see which one is most suitable. And now, yet another contender has joined the ranks.
Tokyo has put out the CrossHelmet, which comes with 360-degree vision, touch controls and active noise cancelling.

Provided by a rear-facing-wide-angle camera built into the back of the lid, the helmet displays the rider’s rear view in the top center of their vision on a small projection screen. The angle is also wide enough such that the rider’s blind spots can be nearly eliminated.
Okay, so it’s not entirely 360°, but the concept is still cool
The projection screen for the rear also displays information such as navigation prompts, time, battery level and compass headings.

The visual navigation system has a built-in Bluetooth audio interface, which will also handle communication such as phone calls and intercom capabilities.
Touch Controls
The CrossHelmet also comes equipped with touch pad control, which can be connected to either an Apple or Android smartphone. These panels seem to be situated on the sides of the helmet and can respond to taps, swipes and other motions to control media, volume and other functions.

Active Noise Cancellation
The CrossHelmet team is taking a crack at integrating an active noise cancelling system too. It is designed to filter out road, engine and wind noise to a safe level to help reduce stress and fatigue while riding.
Levels of noise cancellation can apparently be controlled too, and even seem to be configurable to some degree.
Another feature of the CrossHelmet are the LED lights mounted on both sides of the exterior shell for extra visibility and rider safety. The battery is claimed to be able to last for up to 8 hours.

All these different aspects add up to the helmet’s weight, which comes in at a hefty 1.78 kg.
The price is not a small sum either, but if this helmet is able to deliver on its claims, it should be quite a worthy investment.
