With Category D Staying Above S$10,000, Future COE Prices Will Continue To Depend On Market Demand And Quota Availability.
The August 2026 Category D Certificate of Entitlement (COE) First Open Bidding Exercise has officially concluded, with the motorcycle COE premium closing at S$10,503. This marks another bidding exercise where the premium remains above the S$10,000 mark, highlighting the continued demand for motorcycle ownership despite the higher cost of securing a COE. While the increase was relatively modest compared to previous exercises, the latest results indicate that competition among bidders remains healthy as the market continues to balance supply and demand.

Motorcycle COE Ends at S$10,503
For the latest bidding exercise, Category D (Motorcycles) closed at S$10,503, an increase of S$302 or approximately 3.0% from the previous bidding exercise, which ended at S$10,201. A total quota of 521 COEs was made available, with 591 bids received during the exercise. Out of these, 518 bids were successful, while 73 bidders were unsuccessful, leaving only three COEs unused. The figures show that demand continues to exceed supply, keeping motorcycle COE prices firmly above the S$10,000 threshold.
Steady Demand Continues to Drive Prices
Although the increase was not as sharp as some previous bidding rounds, the latest results demonstrate that demand for motorcycle COEs remains resilient. The relatively small gap between available quotas and total bids reflects a competitive bidding environment, where many buyers are still prepared to secure a COE despite elevated premiums. With motorcycle ownership continuing to appeal to commuters, delivery riders and enthusiasts alike, Category D remains one of the more actively contested COE categories.

How Other COE Categories Performed
The upward trend was also reflected across most other COE categories during the August 2026 First Open Bidding Exercise. Category A closed at S$123,890, while Category B finished even higher at S$129,910. Category C for goods vehicles and buses ended at S$91,545, and the Open Category (Category E) reached S$131,000. The widespread increases across multiple categories suggest that overall demand for vehicle ownership remains strong despite the continued high COE premiums.
What It Means for Motorcycle Buyers
With the motorcycle COE now standing at S$10,503, prospective buyers will need to factor the higher premium into their overall purchase costs. Although the latest increase was relatively moderate, the fact that Category D has remained above S$10,000 over consecutive bidding exercises suggests that prices may continue to stay firm in the near term. Future bidding results will largely depend on quota availability and market demand, but for now, motorcycle buyers should be prepared for continued competition whenever a new COE exercise begins.
