Monster Energy and Daytona International Speedway Parterns Up (Again) For AMA Supercross

Racers at Daytona International Speedway will be tackling a monstrous race track on March 10, Saturday, with Monster Energy announced as one of the main sponsors of the FIM World Championship. To honor the support of the energy drink company, the race will be called ‘Daytona Monster Energy AMA Supercross’, similar to the rename of NASCAR’s top series to ‘Monster Energy NASCAR Cup’ in the 2017 season.

What is Monster Energy AMA Supercross?

The Monster brand is a well-known supporter of extreme sports such as Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Moto GP, Motocross, and more. These are the sporting events in which they are also often advertised through.

However, this is not the first time Monster Energy has sponsored the Supercross series. It was in 1971 at the very same Daytona International Speedway that the ‘Monster Energy AMA Supercross’ was first held at

The very first Monster Energy AMA Supercross was held in 1971 at Daytona International Speedway where it gained its reputation of being the “toughest and most demanding” event. Due to the rough Florida sand and a well-devised course by five-time race champion Ricky Carmichael, it is no surprise that racers had a hard time.

For the 2018 season, the series would follow the same format of previous Monster Energy Supercross events with timed races and the current qualifying format that consists of two heat races and a Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ).

President Chip Wile said that they are looking forward to expanding their relationship with Monster Energy and that the sponsorship provides a new opportunity for us to collaborate and continue to grow the Daytona Monster Energy Supercross to provide the bests experience possible for our fans”.

Tickets for the Monster Energy AMA Supercross will be starting at US$40 which is about SG$53; for children aged six to 12 years old, tickets would cost US$15 (SG$19) while those under the age of five would have free admission for general admission areas. Meanwhile, a special ‘Trackside Access’ will let you “get closer to the action” for just $20 in addition to an already-purchased race ticket.

The best thing about the Daytona Monster Energy Supercross is that there will be a free access to the pits, which gives you prime opportunity to get an autograph from your favorite rider.
