Indian resurrects the Indian Scout 70 years later.

Posted On : 27-08-2014

The Indian scout is a faithful representative of what Indian wants, with a weight of 255 kg a very low height seat (643 mm) a very low center of gravity makes the motorcycle, at least on paper, very easy to ride. The first reviews done by magazines or websites indicate that this is true, the new Indian Scout feels and rides very forgiving, perfect for beginners. Just like its 1920 predecessor was, a small, light and powerful motorcycle.

The engine of the new Indian Scout is a new one, based on the big engines of the 20s but with top of the line technology. A V-twin of 1133 cc, liquid cooled develops 97Nm of torque at 5,900 rpm and has a maximum power of 100 hp. Its throttle is fully electronic and also has ABS system on it, although tested units where still having their injection maps developed all reporters inform that the electronic throttle and the fuel injection of the new Indian Scout works like a charm. As a difference between most cruiser models, the Indian Scout offers six speeds instead of the most traditional five speed gear.

The instrument panel is what we can expect from a traditional cruiser model. Bare minimum, only essential info, although we miss a fuel level. To all those that seek an instrument panel with all the info that new models of motorcycles bring they will disappointed. The Indian Scout is faithful to what it once meant to a lot of people.

We will be able to see the new Indian Scout on the Indian Motorcycle Demo Experience and on Europe we will see it on the Intermot on Cologne, Germany in the months of September and October.

The Indian Scout will be available outside USA at early 2015 and will be available on Black Thunder, Indian Motorcycle Red, Silver Smoke (matte) and Black Smoke Thunder (matte). News of Indian Motorcyles are coming in Singapore. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
