Indian Motorcycle Reports Good Sales in First Quarter
Indian Motorcycle has reported rapid growth of a staggering 42% outside of North American in the first quarter of 2018, while motorcycle sales overall in Polaris Industries has increased a modest 9%.

This is even more incredible when compared with its fellow American company Harley-Davidson, whose global sales have dropped 7.2%, and to the motorcycle industry in general which is experiencing a decline in sales.
According to Indian, they credited their success so far to the strong demand for the Scout and Scout Bobber. In particular, the Jack Daniel’s Edition Scout Bobber was sold out in less than 10 minutes. Another attribute to contributing to their brand’s success is apparently their continued dominance in flat track racing.

In an email interview with The Drive, Polaris Industries CEO Scott Wine said that “Indian continued to win on the track and with customers, and both Indian and Slingshot gained market share.”
“Dealer and consumer demand for Indian Motorcycles, especially our expanding Scout lineup, remains robust,” he continued.
With talk of a production version of the Scout FTR1200 flat tracker being released sometime this year as well as the expectation of innovative and exciting new designs from the ex-BMW designer Ola Stenegard, it will be interesting to see if Indian Motorcycles can keep up with the momentum they have set early this year.
