Other than defending their country, the Border Security Force (BSF) of India also indulges in some motorcycling stunts every once in a while.

Since 1990, the Janbaz (translated to “the daredevil folks”) have been attempting thrilling performances and gravity defying stunts on their trusty 350cc Royal Enfield motorcycles, and they are also famous for breaking their own records.

On the 14th of April, 36 members of the Janbaz team mounted three Royal Enfields, creating a mobile human pyramid of sorts. They then travelled while holding that stunt for 1 kilometer, completing it in only 55.52 seconds. They were revealed to have broken their own record of 26 men holding the pyramid stunt.

Then on the 16th of April, the Janbaz created history again by setting not one, but two motorcycle stunt records. The first of the records set involves Janbaz Constable Ravinder Minde at Chhawla Camp New Delhi riding his motorcycle backward.

While it is considered a chore for some to even ride their motorbike while safely straddling the seat and facing front, this incredible feat comprises of not just riding the motorcycle backward but doing so while standing up. Dubbed the “Back Riding in 350 CC Royal Enfield (Solo Event)”, Ravinder managed to cover a distance of 106 km for 4 hours and 17 minutes, surpassing the previous record of about 2 km with ease.

The second stunt record is no less amazing, with Janbaz Inspector Ashish Bhargava doing the “Standing on seat riding” event. The stuntman, who had been on the team for 5 years, stood on the Royal Enfield, facing front this time, and travelled for 2 hours and 21 minutes for a total of 80 km.

He also managed to break the previous record of 75 km travelled within 2 hours and 24 minutes.

Lastly, the BSF Inspector Awdhesh Kumar Singh and Head Constable Durvesh Kumar set another world record on April 24th. At a staggering height of about 5 meters (not including the motorcycle), the two daredevils rode on a ladder and pole respectively that was fitted to the vehicles.

They lasted for 10 hours and 34 minutes, breaking the previous record of 9 hours and 4 minutes.

The Royal Enfields that were used to aid the men in their jaw-dropping feats were also custom-built to be significantly heavier than the regular bikes, presumably to increase stability.
