Honda VFR800X Crossrunner. A new old twist.

Honda Crossrunner has generated a lot of talk in the motorcycle environment but now we have another twist, served as the basis for the bike VFR800F, deceased in 2009. VFR has always been a delicacy. For those who understand. Who feels and appreciates the "taste" of the V4, kneaded with excellent controllability and ease that is not available to any 1000cc bike or other 4 cilinders. Unfortunately, the consumer has won a stereotype and Honda refused to renew the sports tourist, released last year, is entirely consistent with the trend VFR.

"All-terrain" look Crossrunner - no more than an appearance. Off-road motorcycle is very few on this model, you can go a little bit on the more bumpy roads, but don't expect this to be an enduro motorcycle. The chassis: frame, swing arm pivot, fork, wheels, everything has remained virtually unchanged. Surprisingly, even the suspension has not grown up (108 mm front and 119 mm at the rear), but increased clearance in favor of style from 125 mm to 140 came out sort on a rough road.

The main difference from its parent - high wheel. Two separate halves, rise above the crossarms for a good two dozen centimeters. But the seat and footrests are still in place. The result was a sort of hybrid ergonomic: the lower part of the body sitting, and the upper with a completely straight back and quite wide and high grip the steering wheel.

On the motor side all changes relate to the characteristics of torque. Since the V-shaped "Quartet" moved out of the camp of "sport-tourists" into a more peaceful tribe crossovers, it slightly reconfigured at low and medium speeds. Coupled with the migration engine control unit, managed to make the torque curve more smooth and flat, and remove the "failure" in the "running" range (from 3000 to 6000 rev / min). Of course, the system VTEC (connect a second pair of valves in the cylinders at high speed) began to work much softer. I can not say that all these innovations have changed the character of the engine than its predecessor. He just became more compliant, and even that fully meets the general "friendly" concept motorcycle. At the same time as the peak torque and power decreased slightly

Of course, we should not think that almost a liter engine was plush and boring. Bike is really capable to let positive adrenaline.
V-shaped quartet gives a very confident torque already from 3000 rev / min, which is beginning to fade only after 9500 rev / min. In this case, four of the scheme lacks thoughtfulness, which is inherent in all V2, especially at high speeds. A sort of middle ground between the "top" row "fours" and "bottoms» V-shaped "twos." To me, for a road bike could not be better.
