No matter how good you get at your craft, no matter how much experience you have, there is always space for improvement. Just take a look at Valentino Rossi. Hailed as the greatest motorcycle racer of his time and yet humbling him to learn from others on social media.

If you ever need a role model to look up to, here’s one for you.

Valentino Rossi, 38, hailed as ‘The Greatest Of All Time’ gets lessons from friends on how to better ride a Flat Tracker. Sammy Halbert and Brad Baker supported the Italian and gave him constructive criticism on his form and suit.

With anonymity as an incentive, a great many users take to the Internet to air their grievances online, the repercussions of which echo on to innocent bystanders on mediums like Instagram. This particular incident, however, is an example of how we can use social media to build a positive community of people who build each other up and contribute constructive criticism.

Seven days ago, The Doctor posted a short video of himself on Instagram as he was on the dirt track ‘flat tracks style’, tagging Brad ‘The Bullet’ Baker and ‘Slammin’ Sammy Halbert who are both AMA and X-Games winners if he was doing alright.

In the vast sea of heart-eye and thumbs-up emojis, Baker and Halbert supported their friend even as they tell him a thing or two to improve on. Halbert suggested that Rossi improve his form by raising his elbow up a little more on the corner entry while Baker chimed in with an entire lesson: “Your style is very unique but fast (Rossi). Could get the right elbow up a little more on corner entry. I agree with (Halbert) though, your right elbow could be raised up a little more which will give you more leverage to control the front when entering the corner. You might have to get Dainese (a motorcycle clothing, sportswear and protective gear brand) to modify your suit for more movement in the shoulders like they have on my suit in order to be able to raise your elbows more freely.” Cue fist bump.

38-year-old Rossi took the suggestions gracefully, though. Well, as graceful as a thumbs-up emoji can get.

Unlike many veterans who would react defensively upon constructive criticism, it is a great thing to see someone as experienced and highly-acclaimed as Rossi publicly showing his need for his friends’ advises and support. A great role model, indeed.
