Future MX Racer: 4-Year-Old Jaydin Smart Beats Older 7-Year-Old Competitors

Posted On : 30-12-2017

Four-year-old Jaydin Smart was born in California, his backyard a make-shift race track and their garage filled with various motocross bikes. In no time, we might be seeing him in the FIM and AMA Motocross Championships in the near future.

His parents, Jocelyn and Patrick Smart, might be the culprits who passed on the motocross fever to not only Jaydin but also their two-year-old son Eli.

His father, Patrick, said that he knew Jaydin was ready to start riding before the young-in was one year old. According to him, Jaydin would try to jump on motorcycles or bikes whenever he would see one, making noises and playing with them at a really young age, which was how he knew Jaydin was ready to start riding.

“He just always bugged us to ride,” Jocelyn said. “So we let him. To this day he won’t stop.”

Jaydin’s reason for his love of motocross is as simple and innocent as it is alarming to most conservative parents. He said, “I like jumping high and doing whips.”

Despite the obvious safety of the child with his full protective gear and the assistance of his parents, online users still air their criticisms freely. Patrick’s only response was, “There’s a lot of things that are unsafe in life, and honestly, Jayden is yet to be injured on the motorcycle.”

Jaydin got his first strider bike for his 1st birthday and focused on learning how to ride as best as he could, a goal he clearly accomplished, and quickly, too as just after two months of his 2nd birthday, he received a PW50 motocross bike. Patrick, obviously impressed, said that his son’s advancement was “unreal”.

“He was jumping, whipping, hitting berms and hill climbing in a very short time,” Patrick said. “By the time he was two years and four months, he was already riding a little bike to its full potential.”

His skills come as no surprise for a kid who rides at least 30 hours per week, according to Jaydin’s parents. The father-and-son duo goes riding every day, without which, Jaydin would become “very unhappy”.Unsurprisingly, Jaydin’s tenacity and passion for the sport won him first place in the Sacramento Raceway, competing with other four to seven-year-old kids before he was even four years old himself.

His potential and talent remind of a few MX racers whom Red Bull deemed “way ahead of their time” including the likes of Ricky Carmichael, James Stewart, Jeremy McGrath, and Travis Pastrana.
