With the government allegedly pushing for all-electric transport by 2030, the Surge will be part of the move to introduce high-performance vehicles with clean and efficient energy sources to the roads of India.

Founder and CEO of eMotion Motors, S Pranav, thinks that “using electricity for transport does not have to be a compromise in terms of performance.”

“We hope to be among the pioneers of popular, high-performance electric vehicles in the country,” he continued.

According to the press release, Surge will be a “feature-rich motorcycle which can not only go toe-to-toe with petroleum vehicles but also surpass them. It has over 40 new innovative features that help it stand out from other bikes on Indian roads.”

These features include SOS safety feature, storage space, animated turn signals, anti-pollution self-cleaning coating and more. In fact, the large cabinet space can store much more than just a helmet.

Other smart features to enhance user experience include the LED Backlit Display, GPS Navigation, Mobile phone integration, Cloud connectivity and IOT features.

The Surge is said to be available in 2 variants, with the top variant reaching a top speed of 120 km/h and a rapid acceleration from 0-60 km/h in 4 seconds or less. The motorbike will also “provide high torque multiplication at the wheels for riders who would otherwise miss the fun and high acceleration in narrow roads and while parking.”

eMotion Motors also claims that the Surge will have the capability of running for 100 km in a single charge, with an express charging time of just 30 minutes needed to get the battery from empty to full - a rather impressive timing compared to other charge times on an average electric bike offered today.

Furthermore, the electric bike comes equipped with a one-of-a-kind “boost feature” which will aid the rider’s dream of pushing extra power to the motors for a while.

Set to hit the Indian roads by 2020, the eMotions Motors company is currently raising funds for the manufacture of this electric bike. The startup also reportedly has plans for 3 offerings in various motorcycle segments in the coming years, with Surge aiming to be a pioneer of the future in electric mobility.
