Dunlop's Geomax AT81 EX Promises Better Grip and Performance

Posted On : 28-12-2017

Any sport, any art, is a partnership between the athlete (or artist) and the sport (or art) itself. Motorcycle racing is no different. It is the relationship between the rider and his bike, and the bike and its various parts that propels the whole team of the rider, bike, and bike parts, across the finish line. There is no mistake; all of the players know their place.

One such part of the motorcycle that provides the right traction over extreme terrain is the tires, without which the bike will be immovable. Now Dunlop has released a tire that will replace the D656EX, a once-great companion that has now run its course.

The Geomax AT81 EX boasts an “even greater grip and performance” from its predecessor, the AT81, that has a great track record, winning numerous titles such as the AMA National Enduro, Grand National Cross Country, and more.

But despite the AT81 EX retaining its original construction and “winning tread pattern”, what sets it apart from the AT81 is its “ultra grippy compounds”. Made for “a wide variety of extreme conditions”, the EX will be made available in 110/100-18 in rear size.

Destry Abott, who helped develop the EX, said this about the final product, “I can honestly say the AT81 EX is the best advantage you could have to help you win races.” He also mentioned how he could ride easily even in rocky and slippery conditions, something he was unable to do with just a regular tire, adding, “I’ve been using it for EnduroCross racing and extreme rides and it has helped me with my confidence too.”

Cody Webb, along with Abott, also helped develop the new tire. In fact, he used it during the 2017 EnduroCross and won the championship title. “I was shocked,” he said, “how much better it made my rear shock feel going over obstacles and absorbing them.”
