Ducati Owners Can Now Interact with Their Rides via New Link App

Posted On : 28-06-2018

The new Ducati Link App smartphone application has been revealed. Available on both iOS and Android, the app is the result of a collaboration between Ducati and e-Novia.

According to the press release, Ducati Link was created with three fundamental pleasures of biking in mind.

Firstly, the relationship the biker has with their motorcycles. Through the use of Bluetooth technology, the application connects to the bike and displays information on the on-board control unit while riding. This includes details such as speed, lean angle, power delivery and acceleration. At the end of each ride, the rider will also get the option of checking his or her performance by analyzing the evolution of data over the course of the trip.

Secondly, it takes into account the journey and discovery of new roads. Using the smartphone’s GPS, the Ducati Link App will record the route travelled, and the user will even get to integrate photos and comments of the journey for memory’s sake. This also creates an exciting experience as the rider can then relive the experience whenever they want.

Last but not least, the pleasure of sharing. As stated by the Bologna-based motorbike manufacturer, “as part of a real community, you can use the app to share details of itineraries, images and suggestions for other bikers.”

Furthermore, the app’s connection with the motorcycle allows the rider to set the travel mode and “customize the parameters of each Riding Mode”, which includes mechanical details such as ABS, Ducati Traction Control and more.

The entire process of customizing your road will be extremely easy as you can do it all from the screen of your phone, and information such as owner’s manual and service dates will be made available as well.

“The launch of the Ducati Link App is another step forward in the Company’s digital transformation process”, comments Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati. “The application has been designed to be a tool enabling constant dialogue between bike and rider. Thanks to the connection between bike and smartphone, the rider will be able to enjoy an increasingly engaging driving experience, transforming each trip into a memory to be shared and relieved at any moment. We are particularly happy to have been able to develop this technology with a partner like e-Novia, an impressive, dynamic Italian company, in further confirmation of the ingenuity and technical skills that characterize and distinguish our country.”

“The collaboration between our ‘Enterprises Factory’ and Ducati, a renowned Italian brand, has led to the creation of a highly innovative and pioneering product in the field of smart mobility, able to improve the driving experience and to enhance the performance of a great Italian industrial product”, says Vincenzo Russi, CEO of e-Novia. “We are proud to have worked together with a company such as Ducati, contributing with our know-how in the fields of electronics and artificial intelligence to the digitization process of a world’s leading motorcycle manufacturer.”

The Ducati Link App will be made available for all motorcyclists, although the data exchange function between motorcycle and smartphone will can only be accessed by owners of the Multistrada 1260.

Meanwhile, Ducati will be continuously updating the app with new functions and connectivity being extended to the other models from the company.
