Ducati Issues Recall After Incidents of Super Hot Supersports Bursting into Flames
Ducati has issued a recall for approximately 1,500 2017-2018 Ducati Supersport and Supersport S motorcycles.
As stated by the Italian manufacturer, the basis for this recall was that hoses near the exhaust manifold may melt, causing a fire. This comes after a few cases of spontaneously combusting Supersports earlier this year, proving once again how hot these two-wheelers are - whether in terms of popularity or temperature.

Going into detail the problem, Ducati said that the “Airbox blow-by and fuel tank overfill hoses may be routed too close to the exhaust manifold, which may cause the hoses to melt.” This could cause fuel to spray all over the motorcycle’s manifold, causing it to burst into flames, which is totally not cool at all.
Ducati has also warned riders to watch out for smoke at idle, or the smell of burning rubber from the lower left side of the bike’s fairing.

Although the issue has only affected North America so far, this could possibly lead to a world-wide safety recall for the fiery bikes. According to the official statement, affected owners will be notified and they can simply take their motorbikes down to the nearest dealer and get a service repair completely free-of-charge.
The hoses will most likely be rerouted while the hose clamps will be repositioned to ensure that the hoses are no longer in danger of melting.
The recall is expected to begin on August 11th, 2018.
