The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is a global movement, founded by Mr Mark Hawwa in Sydney, Australia. It is sponsored by Zenith Watches and Triumph Motorcycles. Over 2,500 riders, across 64 cities, participated in the first ever ride in 2012. The ride is an annual event which has been organised all over the world since then. Just last year, more than 50,000 participants across 90 cities, including Singapore, took part in this annual motorcycling event.
The Singapore convoy of over 400 riders started off their journey at Seletar Aerospace Park and concluded at Gillman Barracks, near Alexandra Road. They rode to various places of interest in Singapore, including Dempsey Hill and Yishun Dam. The riders were decked in unconventional riding attire (e.g suits, tuxedos) while riding on classic and vintage bikes.
There is no cost to join this event, however, a donation is always welcome. As of 17th October 2017, Singapore has raised USD$9718 so far. Collectively, the DGR has raised $4.81M, which is very close to their fundraising goal of USD 5M.
Here are some statistics, taken from the official Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride website. It depicts statistics pertaining to men’s health in the world and their goals by the year 2030.
