COE Roller Coaster Continues: Motorcycle COE Bounces Back to $10,602 in Round 2

Posted On : 17-05-2023

In an astonishing turn of events, the Motorcycle Certificate of Entitlement (COE) prices have significantly rebounded in Round 2, reaching $10,602 after the bidding on May 17, 2023, at 4:00 PM.

The prices had increased by an impressive 50%, which means they are now almost back to the levels before the Land Transport Authority (LTA) made recent policy changes. As a result, the COE market for motorcycles has become a roller coaster ride characterized by extreme volatility.

Just two weeks ago, on May 4, 2023, motorcycle COE prices plummeted by close to 60%, shocking buyers and industry observers alike.

However, the rush of new motorcycle buyers following the price drop nullified the intended effects of the LTA's policies. The number of bids received in Round 2 exceeded 2.5 times the available quota, indicating a strong demand that surpassed expectations.

While some lucky buyers managed to secure the COE at the rock-bottom price of $5002 during Round 1, those who entered the market in search of a bargain after the recent drop may have been disappointed as they failed to secure a COE at the desired price.

The unpredictable market highlights the importance of timing and strategic decision-making for potential buyers.

The spotlight is currently on the upcoming June 2023 bidding for Cat D motorcycle COE in its first round. Will the COE prices maintain their current levels or experience another decline? This next round of bidding will provide valuable insights into the market's stability and the potential for further price fluctuations.

It is essential to recognize that multiple factors, including market demand, economic conditions, and government policies, influence the motorcycle COE market. The recent bounce back in prices serves as a reminder of the market's inherent volatility and the need for buyers to monitor trends and adjust their strategies closely.

As Round 2 of the motorcycle COE bidding concludes with prices soaring to $10,602, the COE market continues its rollercoaster-like journey. The rush of new motorcycle buyers and the overwhelming number of bids received indicate that the policies implemented by the LTA may no longer have the desired effect on the market.

Nevertheless, buyers must stay informed and adapt to the ever-changing landscape. The upcoming Round 1 of the Cat D motorcycle COE bidding in June 2023 will be a pivotal moment, offering insights into the market's resilience and the potential for future price movements.
