The prevalence of bike crime in London is worrying. According to Motorcycle News, there were 14,943 thefts of motorcycles between July 2016 and June 2017. That is half of all the vehicles purloined in London – a 30% spike as compared to the previous year. Gangs are also reported to have stolen these two-wheelers for a jaunt.
“For a couple of years now motorcyclists of Bristol and surrounding areas have been targeted by a small number of prolific motorbike thieves who seem to think it's a sport to take someone else's pride and joy, trash it to destruction, burn it out and then use social media to brag about it!”- “Bristol Bike Theft Awareness Ride 2017” official Facebook page

Local denizens of Bristol gave our heroes a standing ovation as they wheeled past various attractions in the city, such as City Hall and Park Street, before concluding at Fowlers Motorcycles. Apart from spreading awareness of this taxing issue running rampant in the city, organisers of this event also displayed support for Avon and Somerset Police for their effort in curbing motorcycle thefts. Local bike groups and righteous, like- minded citizens showed solidarity with the police and presented a united forefront in the pursuit to stop crime. Additionally, nuggets of advice in keeping their motorcycles unharmed were shared.
We are sure relieved that the frequency of bike thefts in Singapore is much lesser. Keep your motorcycles locked, purchase a cover, or even install an anti-theft alarm – to ensure your pride of joy will be less of a magnet for crime.
