BMW Motorrad Vision CE Debuts at IAA 2025: A Bold New Chapter in Urban Electric Mobility

A Vision for the Future of Two-Wheel Mobility
At the IAA Mobility 2025 motorshow, BMW Motorrad introduced its latest innovation — the Vision CE, an electric concept designed to reshape the way we think about city commuting. Far more than a prototype, the Vision CE is a statement of intent: a future where electric two-wheelers combine sustainability, safety, and style in one cohesive package.
The Vision CE reflects BMW’s commitment to sustainable, emission-free urban mobility, continuing the journey that began with the C evolution (2014), matured with the CE 04 (2022), and expanded with the playful CE 02 (2024). Now, BMW is moving beyond scooters, offering an all-new vision that brings freedom, safety, and emotional design to urban commuting.

Helmet-Free Freedom: A Radical Safety Philosophy
One of the Vision CE’s most striking innovations is its helmet-free riding concept. Much like the BMW C1 scooter from 25 years ago, the Vision CE introduces a new safety system that eliminates the need for traditional protective gear.
At the heart of this is a metal tube composite “cage”, integrated with a seat belt and reinforced seating system. This design creates a safe riding environment, protecting the rider while enabling a casual, carefree experience. The result is a machine that merges the thrill of riding with the comfort and ease of car-like safety.
Design Language: Minimalist, Dynamic, and Emotional
Visually, the Vision CE is unlike any motorcycle on the road today. A long wheelbase and reduced overall height give it a sleek, stretched look, while its open, airy structure adds a sense of lightness.
The bike’s materials highlight BMW’s attention to detail: coated aluminium accents emphasize technical precision, while the matte white and black two-tone scheme gives it a sculptural, futuristic appeal. Neon red highlights add a sporty, emotional flair.
Inside the cabin-like setup, the seat bench with integrated lettering and minimalistic controls enhance the futuristic aesthetic. BMW has also showcased derivative versions of the Vision CE, reinforcing the platform’s flexibility for different lifestyles.

Innovation Beyond Design: Self-Balancing Technology
Adding to its futuristic nature, the Vision CE comes with a balancing function that allows the motorcycle to remain upright even when stationary. This feature not only makes parking and handling easier but also improves accessibility for new riders, reflecting BMW’s mission to make two-wheel mobility safer and more approachable.
Carrying Forward a Legacy of Innovation
The Vision CE is not an isolated experiment — it builds on BMW Motorrad’s longstanding vision of reimagining mobility. From the C1’s radical safety-first scooter in the year 2000 to today’s Vision CE, BMW has consistently challenged convention.
By integrating electric drivetrains, intelligent safety systems, and futuristic design, BMW Motorrad is positioning itself as a leader in shaping the future of urban mobility.
The BMW Motorrad Vision CE redefines what an urban motorcycle can be. It’s not just about going electric — it’s about rethinking freedom, safety, and design in the city. With its helmet-free cage system, futuristic design, and intelligent technology, the Vision CE is a bold glimpse into the future of riding.
As BMW continues to evolve from the CE 04 and CE 02 into this new territory, the Vision CE may prove to be the concept that changes not only how we commute, but also how we define what a motorcycle is in the 21st century.
