Posted On : 26-06-2018

BMW Motorrad has just released their latest line of digital technology for connected riding, with features such as voice directions, cable-free charging and integrated intercoms.

The new Navigator VI features a large 5-inch touchscreen with a circular polarisation filter on the display to minimise reflections and improve contrast. This ensures optimal readability even in the most glaring of sunlight.

An optional private vehicle assembly kit also means a multifunctional operation, while the pioneering trip technology helps to map out the rider’s journey. The route planning software BaseCamp is said to allow the rider to “compile routes that are customized and highly detailed”, providing tons of highly personalized options.

The advanced TTS navigation prompts also reportedly give a precise description of the environment using traffic lights, road signs and even buildings as points of reference.

Lastly, the Bluetooth technology and the “Music Streaming” feature works seamlessly together to provide an enjoyable riding experience. Compatible “Action Cams” can also be controlled directly from the navigator, which means journeys can be recorded and looked back on for memories.

Other than the navigation system, there is also a phone cradle used to charge phones via a micro-USB cable. The plastic hard case is dustproof, waterproof and shock-resistant, made of anti-glare flex foil and can be rotated 90 degrees for use in either portrait or landscape mode. It can be powered by a motorcycle socket as well.

For motorcyclists with various electronic devices to charge, the BMW Motorrad dual USB charge is also an option to consider.

Lastly, the communication system is a device integrated into the helmet for a streamlined design. Named the BMW Motorrad Communication System 7, it will be available for the System 7 Carbon, System 6, GS Carbon and Helm AirFlow Helmets.

With a three-key control pad, using it will be a piece of cake - with features such as connection with up to three Bluetooth devices and audio on the R1200RT, the K1600GT or K1600GTL.
