Posted On : 22-10-2014

Back in 2006, BMW released the first F800. It was further modified to have a sporty look with the F 800 S, then the F800ST which was specifically designed for touring. This new generation is now the next generation bike for the F800 series. This promises to be a sporty roadster in the medium category naked bikes. It sports of a high level riding comfort with its skillfully engineered design for maximum riding fun.
Critics see this as a great bike for the urban roads. The new bike is a great dynamic naked bike which has a powerful parallel twin engine with a 4 valve technology. It boast of the same 800 cc power as the F800S. It is 2-cylinder which makes it impressively powerful and at the same time has low petrol consumption. This engine is further optimized to make throttle more responsive with its valve kinetic system.
At high level speeds, there is not much vibration for a comfortable ride. Its design is distinctively sporty with a rated output of 87 bhp which is approximately 8,000 rpm. With all this power, vibration is minimal. So it is comfortably powerful at high speed levels. Aside from its power at high speeds, it also has sprinting power. The short gear ratio makes the shifting of gears not feel jerky but smooth. Pulling power when gear has shifted is not jerky but a smooth transition from 4th gear upwards.

Main Features of the F800R:

Fun Riding Experience

Riders expect not only power from the mid category bike but also a fun riding experience. As a sporty touring naked bike, can an F800R deliver excellent results? Apparently, it does! The power and style is not the only thing that this bike boasts of. The complete riding experience is something to be proud of. The dynamics and agility of the bike highly contribute to maximum riding fun.

Shorter Ratio in the Upper Gears

What most bike enthusiasts would notice is the performance of the transmission shifting when it comes to high speeds. A rider would never want a jerky shift when you are at 100km/hour. In urban driving or highway driving a stall from the jerky shift can be irritating and not fun at all for riders. It can even be dangerous in certain conditions. With the shorter gear ratio for the BMW 800R, the shifting in the upper gears is smoother and transition in gear shift is better. Instead of feeling a jerk, you instantly feel the power of the next gear. This shorter ration in the upper gears makes this bike a better bike not just for touring but even for racing. It has enormous pulling power great of highway driving. The valve kinematics make throttle response more sensitive and the engine response is improved.

Steering Precision

At high speed levels, steering is also great. Because it is a naked sporty bike, the agility is just like that of an entry level big bike. With its fuel tank positioned under the seat, the steering and comfort of driving is better experienced.

Great Stopping Power

The bike has an ABS Brembo Brake system which has a newly adjusted pressure sensor for maximum breaking power. The response of the brake system is highly engineered for maximum stopping power. Both front and back braking system responds quickly to the squeeze of the lever or stepping on the brake.

The fixed brake calipers in front are Brembo 4 piston 320 mm steel brake discs. It works with a sintered metal pad. The rear brake has a single piston caliper on a 265 mm disc. This reinforced braking system ensures a stable pressure point that is needed for better stopping power.

The Next Level Bike: Sporty and Dynamic

You can compare this 800cc bike to an experience that you can get from the 4 cylinder K1300R. In terms of looks, the F800R looks more sporty because of the compact design of the headlamps and instrumentations. Because of this design, it looks sporty and dynamic at the same time. The attention to the detail of BMW engineers made the bike from the demands of the next level rider. The seat height is lowered a bit for easier handling. There are additional design parts which is great to personalize the bike. You can install a sports windshield, an engine spoiler, and radiator trim panels.

So, if you are looking for a mid range BMW bike, the F800R can be an option for you. It is a powerful 800 cc bike which has a lot of technological advancements from its first version. Power, design, petrol economy, this bike has a wide range of features that a BMW rider would definitely want to have.
