BMW and TVS Motor join forces to develop new motorcycles
The well known for cars and motorcycles in Germany, BMW AG has made agreement with India, TVS Motor Co who is one of the largest maker on Monday to develop new range motorcycles that are below 500cc to sell in India and oversea. The Germans who are known as the BMW Motorrad who have developed 19 premium motorcycle and scooters ranging from Sports to Enduro.

It is a reflection for BMW to partner with TVS Motor Co as they are the fourth largest maker of motorcycle and scooters by their sales in India. Their strategy is to develop small capacity engine compared to their current which are 650cc-1,600cc as it will help fulfill demands that are growing in such products in the emerging market.
It extend to the company announcement made in January to "realign" the motorcycle business by increasing the model range.
<em><strong>"In view of changing motorcycle markets, demographic developments and increasing environmental demands, we are expanding our product range so as to tap into fresh growth potential,"</strong></em> <em>a TVS statement quoted BMW Motorrad President Stephan Schaller as saying.</em>
<em><strong>He said the long-term cooperation agreement with TVS is "an important step [for BMW] along the road to profitable, sustainable growth."</strong></em>
This partnership will give TVS access to the technology that BMW Motorrad has developed to make new motorcycles and also a better opportunity to compete with their local rivals like HeroMotoCorp Ltd and Bajaj Auto Ltd. It is also a good platform to compete with foreign competitor such as, Yamaha Motor Co, Honda Motor Co and Suzuki Motor Co where they develop wide range of engine capacity motorcycle compared to themselves who develop 110cc-180cc.
On the other hand, the partnership will give BMW a secure position in the growing market of India and also access to TVS's plants in India.
