An Exciting New Hazan SMR Project In The Works By Max Hazan

Posted On : 14-03-2018

New York native Max Hazan (pronounced ‘hay-zin’), has become a part of the upper echelons of the custom motorcycle scene at the age of 35. He mixes his artistic vision with his historical appreciation to create an intoxicating mix of fun and dangerous.

His latest ‘HazanSMR’ project is no different, exploring the dark side of super moto similar to the Supercharged KTM he made some time ago.
It starts with a 942cc LC8 v-twin engine from KTM, and it ends with a 310lbs motorcycle that spits 110hp to the rear wheel. Hazan used some pretty interesting pieces including WP Suspension, magnesium Marchesini wheels with a 15.5-inch front hoop, dual rotors and Brenmbo brakes at the front, as well as a pair of Keihin FCR 41 carburetors to complete the package.

The 35-year-old considers motorcycles as an ‘artistic medium’, which is most likely why he has gained the attention of culinary legend and Raw Craft host Anthony Bourdain. The former executive chef of Baresserie Les Halles hit the nail on the head when he called Hazan’s custom builds as ‘art’ and Hazan himself as ‘unlike anyone else’.

Describing his creative process, Hazan said, “I approach the process as if it were a painting or sculpture, each part is the same as a brushstroke.

“I don’t build choppers, bobbers, or café bikes. I love beautiful creations regardless of category.

“I start with a motor or idea and let the lines dictate what to build around it. I don’t believe in compromise or ego in the creative process.

“The piece should reflect your willingness to build whatever you can imagine.”
