An Electric Sports Bike with Range of 500 Kilometers May be Coming Your Way
Have you ever heard of an electric bike capable of a 500-km range?
While typically electric bikes can barely go up to 250 km on a single, full charge, Indian startup Mankame Automotive is stepping up its game with a 500-km range electric sports bike.

That’s right. Based in Karnataka, India, new motorbike company Mankame Automotive is planning an impressive debut with their EP-1, an electric sportbike said to have a longer range than any other battery-powered two-wheeler in the industry.
While this may sound too good to be true, the company has claimed that this is all possible due to their high-density battery pack and compatible motor-controller combination.
Let’s take a more detailed look at the features of this super bike.

Powered by a liquid cooled 18.4 kWh battery-pack, the EP-1 can go up to a total range of 480 km on a full charge, and a range of 500-550 km with Active Regenerative braking. This is made possible due to a combination of high density cells making up the entire battery-pack.
The bike also comes equipped with a dedicated Matrix BMS system to monitor and control individual cells providing high levels of safety and efficiency.
The drivetrain is also said to be extremely quiet, increasing torque-jerk tolerance and eliminating any lubrication needs.
Braking, on the other hand, consists of dual 320mm front and 245 mm rear disks with brembo calipers. It is then further enhanced with the dual-channel intelligent ABS system and traction control with Machine Learning, the latter of which is developed by the company itself.
Design wise, we are not sure if it will be the final output since production has not officially started. From what we can see of the pictures released so far though, the bike looks to be rather bulky. Check out the images below:

Mankame will be launching their Indiegogo Campaign on the 1st of July so that they can bring this project to life. If the crowdfunding succeeds, the prototype will be constructed and thoroughly tested. In fact, the Indian company has even predicted that deliveries for the motorbike will start sometime in 2022.
