Advantages of Owning a Motorcycle

If you are considering owning a motorcycle in Singapore, it would be best to go through this article to see the advantages of owning a motorcycle. There are quite a few advantages which can be the deciding factor for your purchase of a motorcycle. Take a look at some:

Fuel Consumption

Owning a motorcycle means lesser fuel consumption. Most 2012 models and up are now FI (Fuel injected) models which means lesser fuel consumption. This is not just good for the budget but also helps the environment. Although motorcycles are powered by petrol instead of diesel, the consumption per liter averages from 30km/liter to 50km/liter as compared to a car’s consumption which can go to 20km/liter at best. If you buy a low HP motorcycle this would even mean lower consumption. An example is a Honda CBR 150 which is not fuel injected and still has the carburetor even has good fuel consumption. About 32km/liter within city stop and go driving is good fuel consumption for a motorcycle. Of course fuel consumption still depends on individual riding style. If you are an aggressive rider then it means that your bike going to consume more petrol.

Low Maintenance

When it comes to owning a vehicle, you also have to consider the maintenance. Having an SUV is certainly different as compared to having a motorcycle. Motorcycles are low maintenance vehicles. Parts and service for motorcycle are cheaper compared to cars. When cleaning the vehicle, motorcycles are easier to clean. Preventive maintenance like oil and spark plugs are also cheaper than that of a car or SUV.

Space Saver

Parking is no problem for motorcycle riders. Your bike can fit a parking slot that will not fit even a compact sized car. If you are caught in traffic, having a motorcycle is even going to be a breeze. You can easily park your bike anywhere as compare to the limited car parking at our HDB carpark. When riding your bike in the city or in the expressway, you still occupy smaller space. Having a smaller vehicle is especially advantageous in city riding. Just look at the weekend jams in the city and the limited parking at town. No more wasting time waiting for a car parking lot. Motorcycles? Not a problem at all.

Ride in Style

There are different types of bikes which you can choose from. You can ride in style depending on your personality. There are bare bone bikes which are usually 110cc-150cc which are great for daily short trips. There are big bikes at least 400cc which are for the more daring riders who would want more torque when they squeeze that handle. And if you really are into big bikes, you can go for superbikes 1000cc and above. If you are a beginner, you might opt for the lower powered bikes which can be a good entry level for your motorcycle riding experience.

Increased Awareness.

Driving a two wheeled vehicle makes the driver more aware of the road conditions. Studies have shown that a motorcycle driver has more mental cognitive functionality as compared to car drivers who have their car’s air conditioners turned up while driving. A motorcycle driver constantly shifts gears and feels the wind whipping in his face making him more aware of his surroundings.
