A summary of the features of the 2018 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX, a 'Second generation balanced supercharged engine' – Kawasaki

Posted On : 08-11-2017

After the release of the superbikes Ninja H2 and Ninja H2 SR three years ago, Kawasaki has taken things up a notch with the release of the 2018 Kawasaki H2 SX, unveiled in EICMA motorcycle show in Italy. Employing supercharged technology and engine, the 200hp streetbike promises superb street performance for the rider.

Apart from the standard H2 SX, potential buyers can opt for the SE model, boasting various upgrades such as the inclusion of a quickshifter for clutchless changing of gears, and a full-colour TFT LCD screen dashboard which displays certain details graphically. Ride information like speed and distance travelled are also shown. The rider can also alternate between Sport and Touring modes which are displayed on the screen.

The bodywork has been redesigned with the rider’s comfort in mind, for a comfortable riding position and safeguarding the rider against strong winds. On the SE model, a bigger windscreen shields the rider from windblast even more.
For engine specifications, the bike reaches an output of 200hp@ 11000rpm, and 101.3lb/ft@ 9500rpm of torque. The 998cc supercharged inline 4-cylinder engine is equipped with cast pistons, and some components such as the supercharger and exhaust components are redesigned. A slipper-assist clutch lightens clutch pull and limits back-torque effects.

On the road, Kawasaki has you covered with the Kawasaki Cornering Management Function, which monitors engine and surroundings to gauge acceleration when riding around corners. The SE boasts cornering lights, to help light up the road at night, on each side and will be activated according to the rider’s lean angle. Kawasaki Traction Control offers the rider 9 different modes, which can be changed according to different weather and terrain during riding.

A trellis frame is slightly changed to account for the increased in weight of panniers and pillion riders. A longer wheelbase (~1.2cm) boosts stability, and the bike is able to sustain a payload of ~195kg. Headlamps, brake lights, and taillights are all LED.

The standard Ninja H2 SX comes in Metallic Carbon Grey, and Metallic Matte Carbon Grey, while the SE is available in Emerald Blazed Green, and Metallic Diablo Black. It is unknown if it will be available in Singapore.
