2018 Harley Davidson Softail Slim – New and Improved!

Posted On : 26-10-2017

The news came like a bolt from the blue – Harley Davidson scrapped the Dyna and Softail lines, and unveiled the all-new 2018 Softail cruiser lineup. This article will be focussing on one of the eight new bikes revealed – the Softail Slim. A high performance redesigned suspension, smooth running twin engine, and an all-new Softail Frame are just a few of the many characteristics of this stylish 1746cc motorbike.

The Softail Slim ensures a comfortable ride. A Show Dual Bending Valve (SDBV) fork, as well as a high performance front suspension, provides linear damping characteristics for improved control. A low tuck-and-roll, 64cm height seat complements the bike nicely.

What about riding on the roads? A notable addition includes a Milwaukee-Eight engine. Be ready to zoom past big trucks on a 110lb-ft of torque @ 3000rpm. The engine uses dual counter balancers to eliminate vibration. The Slim has an improved power-to-weight ratio allowing for easier braking, despite having only one front brake disc. To install an ABS for that additional layer of protection, it will set you back close to $800. The sizes of the wheels (front and rear) are both about 15cm each. Also, you are able to circumvent turns easily with a 150mm rear Dunlop D401T tire, along with the 15kg reduction in weight in comparison with the Softail’s previous iteration. LED forward lighting also grants you better viability at night.

All in all, if you are seeking a comfortable ride while coasting at moderate speeds, the Softail Slim is the bike for you.
