Edelweiss Bike Travel, a motorcycle touring company, launched a good deal of Cuba tours last week for American tourists beginning March 2018.

There are two types of tours – one that goes on for 8 days (‘Best of Cuba’) and another for 11 days (‘Classic Cuba’), both of which will be led by acclaimed moto-journalist and Cuba expert Christopher P. Baker who has 20 years of motorcycling experience in Cuba and is, according to National Geographic, “one of the world’s leading experts on Cuba and travel and culture”.

Despite the current U.S. administration’s new regulations, travelling to the island near Florida is still possible, if not complicated. That is why this new motorcycle tour is timely now more than ever to bridge the gap between Cuba and the rest of the U.S.
Additionally, he has painstakingly and meticulously arranged the tour company’s itineraries to the specific requirements for legal U.S. travel under the ‘People-to-People’ license category that enables any U.S. citizen to participate.
He gives ten reasons why U.S. citizens should travel to Cuba:
- Because finally you can… but will you still be able to tomorrow?
- To beat the crowds
- Because Cuba is changing
- All those incredible classic cars!
- Catch it while it’s frozen in time
- See socialism with your own eyes
- For Hav’an’a good time
- It’s not addicted to WiFi
- This is a fascinating moment in history
- Because it’s SAFE!
With Baker as their tour guide, travellers will be exposed to the ‘Cuban reality’. The tour will cover western and central Cuba, stopping first at Las Terrasaz, a lovely mountain village, before continuing on to tobacco city, Vinales. On the way to Cienfuegos and the Caribbean Sea, there will be a short stop-over at the Bay of Pigs, before heading to the “most beautiful colonial city in Cuba”, Trinidad. There will even be a trip to the mausoleum and museum of doctor turned guerrilla Che Guevarra in the city Santa Clara and a visit to Ernest Hemingway’s former house on the trip back to Havana.
“I’m eager to introduce you to well-known artists, baseball players, motorcycle enthusiasts, and others among my personal acquaintances,” Baker said, “that I believe will prove fascinating and fun, and add immeasurably to your travel experience and appreciation of Cuba.”
