The BMW M 1000 XR is the third high-performance "M" model from BMW Motorrad, designed as an uncompromising long-distance sports bike that blends the ergonomics of an adventure tourer with the ferocious soul of a superbike. It is powered by a 999cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine with ShiftCam technology—derived directly from the S 1000 RR—delivering 201 hp and 113 Nm of torque with a screaming 14,600 rpm redline. The chassis is built around an aluminum bridge frame and features electronic Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) suspension, blue-anodized M brakes, and lightweight forged aluminum wheels (or optional M Carbon wheels) to ensure razor-sharp handling. Distinctive M winglets on the front fairing provide up to 12 kg of aerodynamic downforce at high speeds to suppress wheelies and increase stability, while a comprehensive electronics suite including "Race Pro" riding modes, a titanium Akrapovič silencer, and a 6.5-inch TFT display completes this 492 lb (223 kg) "crossover" machine.
