World’s Most Iconic Scooter Brand Vespa Unveils New Special Edition Models for 2019
At the Vespa Club of America’s 2018 annual Amerivespa event last week, Vespa surprised with never before seen production models.
The event, held in Richmond, Virginia, was held to “celebrate the quintessential form of urban mobility and most iconic scooter companies”, and Vespa did not disappoint with their new models from Italy.

First, let’s take a look at the Primavera 50th Anniversary model. Pictured above, the Vespa Primavera had a long history. It first arrived in the motorcycle industry in 1968 and immediately became one of the most spectacular commercial successes for the Italian brand.
The legendary model soon became a timeless classic, with its petite size, agility and peppy engine. The modern Vespa Primavera aims to embody all the values that made the bike so successful half a century ago, “inheriting the freshness and joie de vivre (joy of living in French) of its progenitor.”
Tradition meets technology in this environmentally friendly scooter. One of the more important developments come in the form of the larger wheel rims - made of aluminum alloy and with a new five-spoke design, they are said to be the largest in Vespa’s history. The benefits of larger wheels mean increased stability and safety, and a better grip on all surfaces and road conditions.
Last but certainly not least, the new special edition Vespa Primavera S will incorporate a fully digital instrument panel with a full colour TFT display - also another first in Vespa’s history for a scooter to be equipped with a completely digital colour dashboard.

Vespa also introduced the special series Primavera Yacht Club and GTS Yacht Club, where the elegant Italian style meets the fascinating and luxurious world of sailing. The scooters were said to have been developed using the technical specifications of the latest small and large frame Vespa.

The Primavera Yacht Club will be available in 50 and 150 cc versions, while the GTS Yacht Club will be available in 300 cc. Standing out with the traditional sailor colour scheme of white and navy blue, both scooters sport “special graphics on the chassis” and rims “varnished with an opaque blue with a special diamond finish”, the “tie” on the front shield made with blue chrome ornaments and finally the rubber floorboard inserts.
Exclusive of the Yacht Club special series is the saddle, which has a white edge running around its perimeter as well as the plate with the personalized Yacht Club logo placed on the rear shield.

Finally, the Vespa Notte special series is one that is anticipated to be highly loved by those who love close attention to detail on high quality products.
Available for the Vespa Sprint 50 and 150 cc versions as well as the Vespa GTS Super 300 cc version, it is based on the technical and mechanical foundation of the most recent large and small frame Vespa scooters.

According to the press release, the name of the series was selected due to its characterization by the total black graphics.
The “night-time” style is accentuated by the beautiful new opaque black chassis and the numerous glossy black details, including but not limited to the mirrors, front shield ornaments, handlebar ends, passenger handle and the extractable foot pegs of the GTS Super Notte. A saddle dedicated to each model and a logo-embellished plate on the rear shield will also be included.
Vespa’s special edition models are slated to be launched later this year as early 2019 models. Unfortunately, they have so far only been confirmed for the North American markets.
