The Quin(tessential) Smart Helmet

Posted On : 20-04-2018

This smart helmet can detect when you crash your motorcycle. In this ‘tradition meets technology’ product, these smart helmets are innovative and designed to elevate the safety aspect to a whole new level.

Functional in any scenario - whether for an impromptu trip on the roads or a competitive race down the track, Quin helmets “provide the best comfort and safety unparalleled by its peers.”

Some of the features include built-in 4G connectivity and external glove-friendly buttons that enables the use of phone calls, GPS, music and even Siri.

As mentioned earlier, when you crash your bike, this helmet will also be able to detect the accident and send for help via the “Intelliquin Crash Detection System”. The system’s sensors will detect forces in the event of a crash and update the emergency contacts of the rider’s locations. Another aspect of the safety system is the “Intelligent SOS” unit, otherwise known as the SOS Beacon. It allows the rider to manually trigger a distress signal in the event of an emergency. This particular unit sends the rider’s live GPS location to nearby responders who will be able to provide support, and the IntelliQuin BLACKBOX, which automatically records sound, will also be triggered.

All of these technologies are accessible via the mobile application, which also provides “health data during a crash, safety tips, biker news and more.”

Design wise, these helmets are sleek and said to be extremely light. The three models will include all the above features but can be updated to include more in the future.

The open-face McQ comes with an integrated flip-down dark visor, while the Spitfire is a full-face sport touring model, also with an integrated flip-down dark visor. Both the McQ and the Spitfire feature thermoplastic shell construction. The Ghost is a carbon-fiber lid that claims to be the lightest smart helmet on the market, weighing in at a grand total of 1270 grams. Cool, right?

There will be no need for any bulky (and sometimes even malfunctioning) add on devices for your helmet. Instead, the smart technology is “invisible”; it is seamlessly integrated into the helmet.
