Rustom’s Custom Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber is Made of Money

Posted On : 20-04-2018

Dubbed as the “Vecchio Conio”, this custom Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber is the Italian brand’s latest motorcycle project presented in 2018. Created by Italian customizers Mattia Foroni and Roberto Zecca of Rustom Motor Art Design, the paint scheme of this motorbike is literally made of money, hence the tag “Old Money” attached to this vehicle.

The Italian team wanted to pay homage to the Italian motorcycle engineering and its famous brand Moto Guzzi, and so they had acquired a brand new Moto Guzzi V9 Bobber in 2017 and began to try to understand the real essence of the bike.

Taking more than 200 hours of work, the result was an old style custom bike with a modern touch. this official special model was built. Thus, this official special model motorbike was born.

The bike’s defining characteristic comes in the thick center stripe made out of the original Italian Lira, with the banknotes spanning back to 1921, which was when the Moto Guzzi was founded. The banknotes were then protected with 10 layers of special transparent paint coating.

In an interview, Foroni, one half of the Italian duo, said that “The banknote finish is a strong message to Italian people. Italy is passing through a difficult financial period and this motorbike remembers the ‘golden age’ of our country, it’s a nostalgic beautiful memory. At the same time, it’s a powerful message for young passionate guys like us, who still believe in our country and in made in Italy. The reaction is great, people really appreciate this paint.”

The charming Italian cruiser also features the iconic Guzzi transverse twin-engine, and a tank that is flatter and wider than the Guzzi’s original tank. A two-level traction control system keeps the rider in control in both wet and dry weather conditions. The speedometer is positioned on the tank, with a slender flyscreen to deflect wind over an integrated ‘TomTom Vio’. When the Vecchio Conio is connected to a smartphone, live routes are displayed and the rider can even be alerted to any speed cameras in the route ahead. The vehicle’s name, the insignia of the makers and the year of Moto Guzzi’s founding is also inscribed in the panel pictured below.

The Vecchio Conio was the official motorcycle of the International Motorbike Expo 2018 held in Verona, having made a statement like no other with its unique paint finish, exceptional power and roots of the Italian heritage so proudly incorporated into the bike.
