His Royal Highness Prince William went to visit the Triumph Motorcycles factory in Hinckley, England to celebrate world-class British vehicular manufacture, research and development.

As part of his royal duties, he walked the assembly line, shaking hands and speaking with the on-site working technicians and apprentices. The Duke of Cambridge was also given a tour of the giant factory and will be the one to officially open the new visitor center, Triumph Motorcycles Factory Visitor Experience.

His journey to and in Hinckley were both quite interesting as it has been reported that the Prince arrived to his destination on train. Maybe he was embracing the day for the kinds of transportation he is not afforded the luxury of experiencing anymore, namely trains and motorcycles.

First stop at the factory: the packing area where parts are shipped off to a different assembly plant in Thailand. It is quickly followed by a trip to the new  £6m spray shop due to open in spring this year, and then to Nick Bloor’s paint shop.

Despite wife Kate Middleton’s concerns and dislike of motorbikes, it seemed as if the Duke was willing to mount one once more. Quite cheeky of the Prince, seeing as it is his younger brother Prince Harry who has more of a (now mostly dormant) wild side.

HRH Prince William quickly put on a bike jacket and went for a joy ride across the factory’s car park on a Tiger 1200. We bet that particular ride didn’t give him the anonymity he so loves while riding a motorcycles what with the horde of journalists capturing every moment. Still, it must be fun to do what you love without an anxious wife at your peripheral.

On his experience, the Duke said it was ‘very nice’ although ‘not long enough’. Was it the bike he was regarding, or the time he had on it?

He seemed equally impressed with the visitor experience center, home to famous bikes used in films such as Mission Impossible and Jurassic World, as well as Steve McQueen’s bike in The Great Escape. “That’s amazing,” he said. “To actually do the jump back then was a big risk.”
