You might be surprised at the extent a fan would go to procure their favorite movies’ merchandises. Or maybe not. We bet you’re probably already privy to the craziness that surrounds pop culture film. But this film is more than that. It’s a classic. The ‘best’ comedic film that ever graced the silver screen is what its loyal followers would call the Dumb and Dumber movie. Far from being the blockbuster that Star Wars is, it still managed to get as much love from audiences in 1994.
Houstonian man sells mini-bike from cult classic ‘90s comedy Dumb and Dumber for $50,000.
One of the unsung heroes of the film is a mini bike that was gifted to the movie’s transportation coordinator, Gordie Merrick. Merrick had it for 20 years before it landed on the hands of its current owner, Tom Buselle, who spent over a year to restore it to its original condition, even studying screen grabs from the movie for accuracy.
Reportedly, he was drinking and watching a re-run of the film on HBO when he decided to buy the bike from Merrick. Now the mini-bike has reached the land of eBay to be auctioned off, where all things new and used find its way over to.
Buselle told a local newspaper that he “didn’t even expect it to sell at my opening price.” “I just threw something out there and see if someone bit.”
However, it might not be the easiest catch in the sea. With the opening bad starting at US$8,500 (SG$11,206), Buselle was surprised that a lot more than he anticipated bit his bait as he received more letters and bids after TMZ ran an ad for the mini-bike.
The eBay auction ended last Sunday with the bike being sold for more than $50,000. There is no doubt that the money will go to a worthy cause as it has been reported that the money will be used for Buselle’s son’s college education.
